New Nails - Black Magic

This weeks new nails is a combination of a very dark blue and a black glittery nail varnish layered on top. The result is a 3D glitter effect, subtle on first glance but when you look closer the specs of glitter add depth to such a dark colour.

I used one coat of No 7's 'Betty Blues', then two coats of Models Own 'Thunder & Lightening'.

Buff up!

A nail buffer is a great investment to recreate salon perfect talons, and this one won't break the bank at £2 from Boots. This nail buffer gives you a step by step guide, with each side helpfully numbered.

Buffing really helps your nail varnish go on evenly, giving a glossier finish. It also smooths out any ridges and split nails.

New Nails - Neon Purple

Keeping with the purple theme, this weeks nails are in a shocking colour of neon purple called  'Violetta', that can look a different shade in every light. The quick drying formula from No 7 is best applied in two thin layers with a base and top coat. I've work it for 4 days now and only noticing the first sign's of chipping. Its a great alternative to wearing black or dark blue, and looks best on short square nails.

New Nails - In the Nude

This weeks new nail varnish is No 7's Stay Perfect 'So Simple'. I love wearing this nude shade, as I think its a fresh take on the French Manicure. The colour matches my skin tone, its seems to elongate my hands, giving an elegant touch..

You need two coats to give a full colour, and I think a 'squoval' shape (square with round edges) compliments this shade the best. The colour is quite chip resistant, but I would advise to wear with a base and top coat to make sure it lasts even longer.

I got this with a No 7 £5 off voucher from Boots the other week, bringing it to just £2! Its not on the Boots website, but its sold in most large Boots stores.

New Nails

To try keep some festive joy in this glum month, I purchased this sparkly nail varnish set from Models Own. You can get the set from River Island, unfortunately its now out of stock on the internet.. But the separate colours can be bought from the Models Own website.
Black - Mixed Up
Pink - Pink Fizz
Silver - Juicy Jules

Each shade gives a strong enough colour with two coats, but to add more depth to the colour I paint a complementing shade underneath before putting the glitter on top. If you're not brave enough to go the whole hog and paint every nail in glitter, why not just do your ring finger (see blow), or the tips like a french manicure!
The other nail varnish I'm wearing in the photo is by Mavala in the shade 'Miami'.
